Course Description. When
you’re handling a complex case, wouldn’t it be helpful to get inside the
judge’s head—to understand what the court needs from you to cut through the
complexity and present your most important facts and arguments clearly,
concisely, and persuasively? Join U.S. Magistrate Judge Christine Stetson,
Justice Chari Kelly, and trial attorney Jennifer Doan for a candid conversation
about what effective advocates do well—and the pitfalls judges wish lawyers
would avoid. From courtroom preparation and professional reputation to ethical
dilemmas and the rapidly changing role of artificial intelligence in
litigation, the panel will offer practical guidance for practicing before both
state and federal courts. They’ll also look ahead at the future of the
profession, including how experienced lawyers can prepare the next generation
of advocates to succeed in the courtroom.
